Opteron 180 retail query

Hi

Just ordered an Opteron 180 retail and was wondering if they come with HS/fan? I had sort of assumed that all the retail packs did (like my Athlon 4000+) but not sure from looking at the description spec. whether it does now!

If it doesn't, can someone recommend me a decent quality HS/fan suitable for the 180 (NB. probably not looking to overclock it... well not by much).

Got to also admit that though I built my current PC, I've never removed an existing CPU before. I've looked at the video on AMD's site and it doesn't look to difficult. The only slight worry is... is removing the old HeatSink really as easy as it looks? IE. just wiggle it from side-to-side and then ease it off. Or can I just remove the CPU with the HeatSink still attached?

Thanks...

Yea get the sink off, removing the cpu with the sink can cause some pin damage/ bent pins. Best time to remove is when you just shut the PC off as the TIM is warm and goopy.

It should come with a heatpiped heatsink may be copper or cooper/alu.

No you need remove heatsink to take CPU out.

Thanks for the reply...

I know it sounds paranoid but still not convinced, as AMD's site talks about retail packs with/without HS/fan.

So I've Emailed the Retailer and asked them to confirm.
