Opteron 185 owners overclocks please

very unlikely people will have overclocked a 185, they were the most expensive option.

I have a 175 and it easily hit 2666 on stock volts but I couldn't go any further due to the motherboard. But I didn't buy it to overclock, I just wanted a fast stable system.

2.9 stable

Anything more and it way overloads the temps on the mosfets.

I'm upgrading motherboard and changing a few things around. In a few weeks I'll be able to take it to it's maximum, which I expect to be in excess of 3.0.

Stepping is 0613 CCBBE I think.

My old 165 ran happily @ 2.95ghz with 1.39v going through it. Was under a lapped big typhoon and returned temps no higher than 58 degrees C under full load.

Would do 3ghz on air at 1.42v... would have been awesome under water!!!

On top of that the chip was untouched. No lapping and no IHS removal.

Great chip!

Here's the stepping code:

What sort of temps are you getting a 3ghz ? and what cooling are you using
Cheers
I think it was pushing 60c but then I'm only using an AF64 Pro, I'm gonna swap the stock fan and replace it with a 120mm one and see if I can get it higher, I reckon I might be able to!

3GHz stock volts. I've had it up to 3.2 and I'm sure it could do more, but either my memory or motherboard doesn't like it even at a lowered multiplier, and orthos throws a fit. Likewise with a Freezer 64 Pro, although the stock cooler was almost as good.

What stepping is that one mate, sound's a very nice chip, mybe needs just a little more cooling.
Cheers

I've no idea, to be honest I just bought it on a whim, stuck it in and clocked it :). I'll find out (and find out how to find out) soon and let you know. Cooling... possibly, but there's certainly enough airflow around it as it's in a fully decked out CM Stacker. A high-end cooler might help, but spending £30 just to get another 100-200MHz out of it isn't worth it in my book.

That is one fast chip m8. are all the opterons the same core ? some very close speeds regardless of what of opteron. the higher multi only seem's to give a slight edge.

Cheers

The dual core ones all use the Toledo core, not sure about the single core variants though.

Theres Denmark as well, can't remember any others off hand.
CPUZ and Coretemp say Toledo but I have seen it called Denmark elsewhere. I remembered that the single core Optys use the Venus core :)
