Not really bought much amd stuff before, but for my next PC I'm thinking about geting an opty I've noticed that OcUK stock "San Diego" cores but not "Denmark" core CPUs (Denmark was the designation for the higher end Opterons from another retailler) which core is more likely to give better overclocks?

Thanks

All S939 Dual core opterons are 'toledo' cores (same as thier X2 counterparts) where as all single core opterons are San Diego. Denmark is just the name they use for opterons but essentially they are toledo.

How good they clock depends more on their week and stepping i.e I have a CBBWE 0550 UPMW. The CBBWE bit is the revision. Every revision = change in the CPU manufacturing process , wich usually has an impact on the overclockability and on the temperature of the CPU . The 0550 means it was made in '05' - week 50. The UPMW part is the day it was made (U = Thursday?). The best current stepping is the VPMW range although these are quickly becomming like rocking horse shxt. Next are the UPMW and so on and so on.

In short it pays to do a little research into the stepping you are hoping to purchase if you are looking for the best CPU. Sometimes its pot luck what you will recieve, unless you get it off an online auction, even then other factors such as your hardware could hinder your overclock.

Hope this helps
