Hi
can some one please tell me if the Opteron 170 will be compatable with the DFI sli-dr and would it better then the x2 4400.

thanks

Please do some more reading in this forum, there're tons of threads regarding Opteron 170 vs X2 4400. Otherwise no one is going to respond to your thread.
I suggest you check with OC UK before order, now their phone lines work like a charm. ;)

Think im going to get the x2, i like the look of speeds some are getting with the 170 but i dont know a thing about ocing the a64 chip

all these htt, ldt, fsb, cpu vid,mfi and B&Q ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Except that the opteron runs at a lower voltage and thus has less heat output.

The DFI will run fine with an opteron got one on my DFI running at 2.5Ghz, people have gone further but my ram is holding me back as it doesn't like divider very much.

You may need to update the bios, i am running the 704-2BTA bios, you can download a CD that will assist in updating the bios as well, head over to the DFI street forums and you will get load of help :)

If I remember I'll post some direct links when I get home later.

Thanks for all the info been on DFI street and have got a 42 page pdf guide so if i can oc my 3500+ wini i think ill get the opteron. :D

They are a match made in heaven mate ! :)

The Optys are more likely to achieve a higher overclock. The silicon is stronger, and they produce lower temps. The DFI's are the best boards are the best for tweaking and are very stable.

Translated this means. .

"benktlottie thinks the DFI boards are very good and offer great features for overclockers!"
