I'm in the process of putting my system spec togethr before I buy and I'm in a quandry over what Processor to use!...

I've got my eye on the X2-4200+ at £250... but I've also now seen the Opty-165 for £10 more at £260!...

The 4200+ is Stock 2.2Ghz but only has 512K (Per Core) Cache... Where the Opty is 1.8Ghz but has 2Mb (dunno if thats per Core!!) Cache.

Can Anyone tell me which is the better chip?... is the Opty worth the extra £10?...

I basically use Powerfull Graphics and CAD packages... Do a bit of DV Movie Editing (etc..), but also play a few games too!!!...

Please Help!.. :(

Sim :)

If your happy with that spending that much money the 165 is your best bet, presuming you are happy to overclock.
If you are not overclocking then get the 4200.
A 3800 would be a good buy instead of the 4200 if you are overclocking, its very easy to catch up that small difference in speed, 2.4GHz comes around with very little effort.
