Hi, I have a late '11 MBP 13' the slightly uprated model that comes standard with the 750gb HDD

I've recently removed the optical drive and replaced it with a 256gb Cruicial SSD.

The fan now seems to be on full chat more often than not, can anyone explain why it'd be doing this/possible fixes?

Many thanks.

I'd imagine that the Optical drive when not in use didn't produce much heat. Now you've stuck an SSD in, you've got more heat. I'd imagine that it just the extra heat from the SSD that sets the fan off rather than something wrong.

I find that it does run a bit hotter with 2 drives in there which does kick the fans in a lot. Mainly happens when its on my lap cooking my balls.
