Optical Drive AWOL!

wonder if anyone can help, my optical drive (DVD-RW) has vanished from my computer, device manager, etc, the IDE and power cable are both securely in, the IDE is securely in the motherboard i did however install a second hard disk in RAID 0, can that have anything to do with it, motherboard is gigabyte P35-DS3R and the hard disks are plugged into the gigabyte SATA2 0 and 1 if that makes any difference, thanks for any help

Is it detected in the bios? Is the DVDRW plugged in to the gigabyte controller too? Do you only have 2 HDD's in RAID 0 - if so, I presume you installed windows on it from the DVDRW?

Uninstall any virtual drive software (daemon tools, alcohol 120% etc.) and see if it comes back.

indeed i did use DVD drive to install windows, fixed it now, for some reason it works on the intel SATA controller but not the gigabyte one, if i use the gigabye one it seems to be either RAID or optical drive, not both at once, so i redid the RAID on the intel controller and all is well :confused:
