Currently I have a dell N7110. It has a hard drive in it, but it's a 5400rpm slow thing. I have an optical bay but to be honest I rarely, if ever use it. So I was looking into putting an SSD into my laptop but my laptop requires me to take off the keyboard and take off the whole of the front casing. I don't really want to to do this, so looked into optical bay hard drive caddys.
Now, they seem fairly straight forward and I have found a caddy on ebay:

I was thinking of putting a samsung 830 120GB SSD in it. However I'm wondering, will the optical bay be Sata III? Or will it be sata II? Because if so it's pointless me getting a samsung 830 I might as well get a Sata II SSD. My laptop is quite new, it has USB 3.0 so it's making me think that it will possibly be sata III is there anyway I can find out?
EDIT:
Looked and it's Sata II,
was wondering can I boot from the caddy SSD? or will it still recognize it as a ODD.
