Optical drive broken - can I install Arkham City?

Sorry, this is no doubt a really stupid question...

I bought a CD copy of Batman Arkham city but cannot install it as none of the Sata2 ports on my mobo appear to be functioning and I have no spare sata3 ports for my DVD drive.

Is there anyway of downloading the game by legitimate means and using the cd Key I have to activate the game? Can a demo downloaded on steam be activated to the full game? (sounds very unlikely admittedly).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Most of the ones on torrents don't come cracked, it's normally after install apply this patch etc so if you don't you should be good to go.

If your CD key is legitimate then it makes no difference where you get the data from to activate that key.

Edit: The demo and the full game are the same size, so maybe you can download the demo and then activate it after the time runs out.

have you tried checking if you can register the code on steam and getting the full version? works with some games, they have a list. just try it, might get lucky.

Ok, cheers guys. I'll give it a go.

There's nothing silly like the game needing the cd to run is there?
Arkham City uses different keys for securom activation. The Steam ones & the retail are different & do not work unless you own the correct version.

You need Securom to be properly activated otherwise the game will crash constantly. I found out the hard way after using a no dvd patch it messed up my install when the patch came out & now I have lost an activation because of it.

Try to fix your sata ports issues its highly unlikely to be hardware related just some device manager plug n play driver glitch look on technet.

Maybe you need to do the 'upper filters fix' in the registry
