On behalf of a friend...

I have a creative audigy 5.1 audio system on my PC that has one SPDIF connection it. Ive never used this but assume it's an optical in?

Can I use this with the optical out of the xbox 360 to put sound through my speakers?

Particularly, with this cable : Belkin Blue Series PureAV Digital Optical Audio Cable 1.8m

if the connection on you souncard is an optical one, then it will definately be an output, unless there are more than one.
