not sure if i should post here or in mobo section but here goes. I had ma mobo for a year now and ever since i got it the audio out on the back never worked proberly (only playing out out of one speaker) but this didnt bother me coz the front audio port on my case seemed to work fine. That was a uni, using a crappy 2 speaker and sub setup. Now my pc's at home.

At home i have a reviever. The prob i has was that the front audio only put sound to the front speaker surround so i've just got an optical cable, all connected and signal revieved. But im still having the same problem on the front speakers only have sound. not my rear speaker or center have sound. I can switch my amp to send the same signal to all 5 speakers but then i lose the surround sound.

Is this a software issue or a harware issue. any help would be great.

also sorry for any spelling or grammer i just got in from the pub :D

hope this all makes sence

ok, i played a dvd using the optical. The rear speakers had no signal. So i changed back to my phono cable. the rear now have a signal. Now here comes the noob question. how do i get surroundsound using the normal cable. I've looked at the mobo manual and i have one port for front speaker, one for rear and one for sub/center. But how does this work on a receiver. its only has one input. This has almost defo been asked before but when it comes to sound im a complete noob

thanks
