Ive just purchased a Denon 1906 AV AMP and speaker package and im going to be connecting my xbox360 and media centre PC to the AMP via optical.

Before I order the cables off the net, can someone explain the difference between standard optical cables and TOSLink cables and which ones I need?.

They are the same thing as far as i'm aware. The only advantage of paying more for an optical cable is the cable is thicker and less easy to break as the cheapy thin ones will snap internally with a bit of a kink.

Toslink is a plug standard and optical is the cable type, effectively this is no difference in this case but there are such things as mini-toslink. Your 360 will be a standard TOSlink cable, feel free to buy a cheap one, it won't make any difference to quality whatsoever.
