Hey :)
I've put a new build together recently and need RAM to complete it.

The goal is 64GB 3600 CL16 ish.
I just want it "fast" and stable out of the box.

  • Ryzen 5950x
  • Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master

Since I've read it being a good fit repeatedly, I pre-ordered a kit of
  • Crucial Ballistix 2x32GB 3600 CL16 (BL2K32G36C16U4B)
but have no idea when they'll be back in stock. Just heard from somebody ordering one of those back in
September, and they're still waiting.

That made me wonder whether getting two of those kits was a good idea.
  • Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB 3600 CL16 (BL2K16G36C16U4B)
That's where the big question mark starts though.
Some people claim to have gotten single rank modules while others have had dual rank ones,
all in various posts from last year.

Both sets are in the QVL and both are listed as DR.

The sweet spot to aim for was 4 ranks and 1800MHz, right? 8 ranks will result in performance loss?

For now I'm running my old RAM, two kits of
Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x 16GB 3000 CL15 (CMT32GX4M2C3000C15)

So do I wait it out? Or assume the 2x16GB kit comes as single ranked and fill up the banks?

What's the downside of using 4 vs 2 DIMMs? Or is there an upside with Ryzen?
The entire 2 vs 4 DIMMs debate was just about the ranks IIRC.

Should I be looking at something completely different?

Thanks for your help. :D
