I'm using the advanced edition with the current stock fans, and was wondering what a good setup would be.

Here's what it can take if anyone wants to know. I don't want to spend too much money.

Front: 140 x 25 mm fan x 1 (already have stock 140mm LED fan)
Rear: 120 mm fan x 1 (already have stock 120mm CM fan)
Top: supports 120 / 140 mm fan x 2 (already have 1 stock 140mm CM fan)
Bottom: 120 mm fan x 2 (optional)
Left side: 120 / 140 mm fan x 2 (optional)
Right side: 80 x 15 mm x 1 (optional)
HDD cage: 120 mm fan x 1 (optional)
VGA holder: 80 x 15 mm fan x 1 (optional)

Personally I replaced all the standard fans with the following:

Front: Fractal 140mm
Rear: Fractal 120mm
Top: Fractal 140mm x 2

Very quiet and decent air flow.

Hardware in my sig.

My CPU is 95% of the time under 60c at full load. Only goes over 60c if my room is hot and I havent had the window open all day. That is obviously down to my Megahalems heatsink with my Apache Black fans too. If I stop my GPU and CPU fans, I cant actually hear the case fans, thats how quiet they are.

Do you have this pulling hot air out to the bottom of the case??

you would normally have the bottom fan as intake ? Hot air rises so exhaust fans would more naturally be better suited at the top ?

In my 690 I have got a 120 in the bottom drawing air in, 2 x 120mm on the rad for my H50 in push pull config, a 140 exhaust in the roof and the standard 140 led blue on the front intake.

I run all the fans through a fan controller, so most of the time they are running low speed, untill the computer is under hevay loads and they are set to increase speed as temps go up.

The all run pretty quite. Likewise I ripped all the stock fans out appart from the blue LED fan at the front, thats only really in there for show rather than function :)

Can anyone shed some light on the effectiveness of the 80mm fan that fits on the backside behind the CPU. I noticed not many cases do this and whether it was a gimmick or not. Makes some sense if I'm honest, but just wondered whether it made a difference to anyones temps.

I have a CM690 & have tried both Evercool & Panaflo 80x80mm 15mm fans behind the cpu, don't seem to give me any benefits to cooling.
In my spares box I found a couple of new Scythe Slip Stream 120 Slim Kaze-Jyuni Fan 120x 120 x 12mm fans , so I might try modding the CM690 & fit the larger fan behind the cpu.
