Optimal GPU/CPU/Memory trade-offs for a £600 Gaming PC?

Don't bother with 16GB for general use.

You can get a CPU cooler and overclock later.

You may need an optical drive.

The monitor is all right. IMO you will be better served with a good quality TN panel (and no linking to competitors).

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ Nexuiz, Sleeping Dogs & Dirt Showdown PC Games £161.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98
1 x Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £54.98
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £46.99
1 x Xigmatek Pantheon Mid Tower Case - Black £35.99
1 x OcUK Value 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £26.99
Total : £608.92 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Not sure about that ram being so cheap, but at least you have an easy warranty time.

Thanks for all the help.

I have noticed that OcUK allows for some pretty powerful graphics card configurations for their Titan range:

In particular I can get the 2Gb 7850 on most of these models. As I am not up to building my own machine are there any particular deals / configurations people here would recommend?

For example the "Titan 8000a Krypt" AMD Bulldozer FX-4 4100 3.60GHz DDR3 Quad Core System

with the 2Gb 785- comes to £666.47 inc VAT. Is this a reasonable idea or am I skimping too much in on other components?

Thanks those were actually the two set-ups I noticed too.

Assuming I get a 23' Monitor any thoughts as to the best value graphics card to get with them?

The 2GB 7850 option looks nice, but for £60 more there is a 3GB 7950 - would this upgrade be worth it or is the performance improvement too small to matter. Also will i even notice the difference between 3GB and 2GB Memory at 1920*1080?

One option i was thinking off was getting the more expensive graphics card with the cheaper base machine as with the extra free RAM for the cheaper machine the higher end model works out £120 more. Is this an okay or is this asking for a CPU bottleneck?

Sorry for all the questions - am a software not hardware geek ^^
