I'm just in the middle of a new build and need some RAM to fit this motherboard.

Some RAM like this is on my mobo QVL list. The fact that it says it is 'Optimized for the Intel® X58 chipset / Core i7' puts me off.

Would that RAM be fine with an my motherboard or not. Its slightly off putting that they mention its optimized for something else.

I've also noticed some OCZ DDR3 RAM saying the same.

As wozencl said, that is triple channel memory and AMD only supports dual channel. It will likely work in your board, but if you put it all in it would likely revert to single channel. If I were you, get something like this.

Ah, right.

It confused me with the same RAM being on the motherboard QVL.

I'll get some DDR3 dual channel RAM.

Cheers.

Well, those G Skill modules will be the same RAM that is supported by your mobo, only that kit is a tri channel set, for i7 platform... there is no difference between DIMMs from a tri channel set or dual channel...

But you wouldn't be able to use the full 3GB in dual channel mode on your AMD system, I would imagine it would only run it in single channel mode..

You would be much better buying a 4GB set of RAM for your board like the others have stated...

As above...

@ DavyBoy - just spotted your post regarding your cpu; i shall reply later today when i have more time but - yey! - for the interim.

If the memory is a good buy, you can always get it and run 2 modules in the AMD system. Then you can save the 3rd as a spare, sell it, use it in another system, etc.
