Option 1:
Keep my AMD 955 @ 3.4 and upgrade from a GTX460 sli to a GTX 660ti / 670

Option 2:
Upgrade to an Intel i5 3470 with new mobo and DDR3 ram but keep the GTX460 sli?

Pure gaming only....

Have around £250-300 to spend.
 
Is your GTX 460 SLI struggling atall? If anything i could say it'd be running out of VRAM..

What about the 7950? There at a great price point at the moment.
 
I would go for a GPU upgrade over CPU upgrade with what you currently have. Something like a 660ti would be good if you're Nvidia bound.

However, if you do only play mmo 24/7, then a CPU upgrade would be on the cards. For non-mmo games I'd go for the GPU upgrade. :)
 
I think your GPU's are in good shape. I doubt you'd notice much of a difference if you went for the 660ti. The 670 may be a bit of an improvement.

Though if you are upgrading the motherboard, you'll need a (x8,x8). These start at £100. So it may be pricey.
 
What games do you play? It might help if we knew whether the games you play are mainly gpu bound, or if they are cpu-heavy games like BF3.

I'd lean towards the cpu upgrade tbh, although I'd go for the K chip because they overclock very well. As stated, this might be pricey with Z77 boards going for around £100, so it depends what budget you have.
 
Wouldn't a ssd be a better spend intially and if it doesn't help go for a new graphics card or cpu?

Although one card versus the two 460's will be far cheaper to run.
 
I would grab yourself an SSD to start with, i doubt you would see the performance jump your looking for from anything else. If you really must upgrade the GPU then my money would get a 670 but i think you would be better waiting for the 770 which can't be a long way off now.

Games I play:
Crysis, Borderlands, L4D, Batman, Darksiders, BF3, AC3, BioShock. Pretty much everything exept MMOs.

Is it a good idea to use 1 460 for a while until the 700 ranges comes out?
