Hi all,

So I've convinced the mrs to let me get a new screen and am thinking of going 1440p (Asus PB278Q), I'm thinking I may need to get a graphics upgrade too, so that I don't have to turn down the bells n whistles.

So current spec in sig, I was thinking of either

1) 7970
2) 7950 crossfire
3) waiting for the new Ati series depending on price
... Any other ideas?

(I've always considered nvidia a bit too expensive?? I may be wrong)

I could spare £400 for the upgrade, so what you fellas think?

Don't think any of the new cards will beat 2x7950's for less than £400, saying that, the big reveal is on the 25th from Amd.

The price vs performance of these cards cannot be beat by any gpu combination known to man.

Wait until AMD release their new cards then get what Matt said as the prices should drop a bit by then.

If you need a card now then get one and wait until the prices drop to get another.

since you already have a 6970+6950 Crossfire setup you could wait for the next cards to come and see what is going to happen, the worst case is the prices not dropping...

but probably 2x7950 will be the best option

7950s sounds like a good option then... Like you say, probably worth waiting for prices to reflect, I haven't even got the screen yet so no rush.

Thanks all

You could get 2 4gb 670's for around the same price if you look about. You also get physx should that mean anything to you but having jumped from 7970 crossfire to 780 sli, both options will leave you pleased :)

With that budget of £400 id wait for the 9970 which will probably be out october. Im planning on getting a 9970 and 1440p monitor for BF4.
