What are 980ti owners getting monitor wise? I’m loathed to pay the Gsync tax, but it’s not on the compatibility list.
I’ve got a 2700x and use a 5 yr old Benq 24” 1080p 144hz and an ancient 14 yr old Dell 24” 1920x1200. The Dell has arguably better colours, but the BenQ is better for gaming, so I chop and change between them as I mainly seem to use the pc for media, gaming and sometime cad work.
I’ve been thinking about changing to 1440 for a while (probably keeping the benq 1080p as a 2nd monitor), but I’m leaning more and more to retiring both and getting an ultrawide 3440x1440 screen (been reading a lot of praise for the Benq ex3501r recently, especially for its cost). Can the 980ti push out frames quick enough to make 1440p or even 3400x1440 enjoyable for something like Rainbow6 or Apex Legends? With gsync compatibility on new nvidia cards and Navi due this year, I cant see the point of paying the gsync tax at the moment, if I’m likely to update my gpu within 6 months. Or is the 980ti going to struggle so much I need to consider either gsync now or waiting to update the gpu along with any high res monitor?
