Hi there,
I'm looking into options to make my computer crunch more numbers. In reality I'm not too fussed about running games on ultra, but more having super smooth frame rates with nice enough graphics.
I have been playing a game called Eve and sometimes run multiple clients of the game, this has been starting to put a strain on my i3 550 that I've had for just over a year now.
I would like to be able to run video capture and still have the games I play remain smooth as possible, I've been using MSI Afterburner for video capture and the fps drops to around 40fps where it would normally be sat on the 60 vsync.
Would I benefit much by upgrading to a better 1156 core? I see there are i5 750 processors on ebay for about 90 notes and i7 860 for 130. Would these see a notable increase in performance for the tasks I'm asking?
I would have thought have 2 extra cores would help for running multiple apps and encoding video at the same time.
My other option of course is to ditch the 1156 mobo and go for something else, but I don't really want to spend 300 pounds upgrading to 1155 when my current setup almost works.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
