Optomising Windows 7 for Gaming?

I have looked through many threads to see if there is a definitive guide to setting up Win 7 for gaming. Turning off unused services etc, but can't seem to find one. Basically I just want my Win7 copy dedicated to running games as fast as possible.

Any tips much appreciated. Spec as in sig. NFS shift is what Im playing at the moment, but MW2 soon too

Other than not leaving major apps running in the background, I'm becoming more and more dubious as to what benefit if any - tweaking actually has. I simply can't see it making a difference these days, PC specs are so high that the odd process in the background isn't going to cause a problem.

All of these so called "tweaks" that you can do that apparently speed up your system are completely pointless, they do absolutely nothing that would be beneficial to you. From a performance perspective, Windows 7 in it's default state works absolutely fine. Just leave Windows 7 as it is and enjoy playing your games.

Disk Defragmenter
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Media Center Extender Service
Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service
Routing and Remote Acccess
Windows Event Log
Windows Firewall
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
Windows Search
WLAN AutoConfig

Have not looked at Win7 enough to comment but in Windows XP it makes a fair bit of difference. It's not going to be OMG WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE but every little helps. Although reading this section lately seems to indicate to me that people are happy throwing more hardware at it.

I for one hope to god developers do not start latching onto that.
