as title really... i have 2 screens at the mo and have a bit of spare cash £140 was going to get a 3rd monitor and saw an opty 144 was the same price...

Why would you want another display? What you got atm?
I'l get the Opty 144 and sell the 3500+ NC. Will get some money back and wouldnt of cost you hardly much. Plus hte Opty would probably yield you better overclocks. What you at now?

do you have something to drive the 3rd screen? do you really need a 3rd screen? is your pcu holding you back in your opinion?

well i have 2 PCIEx graphics cards in at the moment X1800XT and an X550 to drive my projector.. and possibly a 3rd screen...
my 3500 really doesnt like to be overclocked i get blue screens and all sorts at 2.3Ghz (dont know if this if my fault or what???)i hear the 144 can reach 2.5 on stock cooler. which would give me a nice performace increase. but it HAS to be STABLE my pc is on 24/7 and need to run smooth...
i do games, video, dvd and converting... HELP

Overclocks with the 144 and other opty's can variey. Looking at the loads and loads of results though, they are very good clockers. Using hte stock cooler and stock volts, you can get high. Getting a better cooler and bumping the voltage up a little will get you to around the 2600MHz - 2700MHz mark. Usually achieved with the 144's. Everyone around that mark, use it at that speed 24/7 stable. There would be no problems getting a fast cpu speed for 24/7 use. Thats what we all want really isnt it.
well i could get the 144 now or a screen and get a 165 in a month and a half

Well if you can get a opty 165 in a month or so. Keep with your 3500+ NC and wait till then. It would soon pass.
