im sure that any board that supports a Athlon64 can support a opteron. My dfi does not support it but it works fine.
 
Yip. They just don't advertise Opteron compatibility because that would need a whole new license from AMD. My 146 has worked in any 939 board I've put it in. Some older boards from certain 'pre-owned' retailers might need an updated BIOS to recognise it, but apart from that they don't have any compatibility problems.
