Opty 146 or Athlon 3700 ?

Depends on motherboard. If you have a good motherboard that can do 300 fsb then it doesnt matter, but if your board stops at 270-280 then get the 3700 due to higher multi.
 
yep as above if your board can do high htt then opty may work out better. if board is limited to 270-280htt then go for the higher multi cpu
 
also have a look around and see what speeds people are hitting with these chips because if there are a really good batch of 3700 out then id pick them, or the other way round, because ya cant assume that all 146,3700s will overclock the same
 
Thanks, am leaning towards the 3700 ATM, just need a cheap MB to go with it.

Was looking at the ASRock dual (huuuuge thread over in the MOBO section) but it seems to be a bit lame for overclocking
 
with the latest beta bios its quite good for overclocking. also its only worth getting that board if you currently have a agp card. otherwise there are other boards out there that are the better option.
