Well after a 4 week wait mr delivery man finally arrived with my 165. I didn't really mind the wait as the cpu has gone up by £80 since i ordered one.

Just unpacked it now to find CCBWE 0551UPMW, hoping it's a good clocker. Will post back with results later :D :D :D

edit: Anything i need for windows wth a dual core, patches ect?

You dont really need any hotfixes unless you see slow performance. You have a revision E6 Opty which does not seem to be affected by any problems.

When single-threaded workloads run on multiprocessor systems that include dual-core configurations, the workloads may migrate across available CPU cores. This behavior is a natural artifact of how Windows schedules work across available CPU resources. However, on systems that have processor performance states that run with the adaptive processor throttling policy, this thread migration may cause the Windows kernel power manager to incorrectly calculate the optimal target performance state for the processor. This behavior occurs because an individual processor core, logical or physical, may appear to be less busy than the whole processor package actually is. On performance benchmarks that use single-threaded workloads, you may see this artifact in decreased performance results or in a high degree of variance between successive runs of identical benchmark tests.

This hotfix includes changes to the kernel power manager to track CPU use across the processor package. These changes enable visibility into the true activity level of a CPU complex and therefore help correctly calculate an increased target performance state.

Opterons cannot possibly be a total exception though, they are still a dual-core configuration, this hot fix is related to the kernel power manager allowing it to better cope with more than one logical processor.
like i said it will only help.

Up to 2600 at the moment just about to prime it, i did get mine @ £220inc vat, glad i did

Already at 2.6GHz? Well worth the purchase at £220 mate. :) Wish I did the same now. :( Would've put the extra savings towards other components.

Don't be too upset I just got another one for £205.08 inc. VAT, if you can be bothered to look around they are still available at that price.

Mines does 2.6GHz so far prime stable for 14 hours have the stepping written down somewhere!

Looking good so far. ;) I haven't seen many posts about these chips with the lack of availability recently. Looking forward to hear more about your toaster and what you achieve with it.

Good luck :)

Running at 2.65 now thats primed stable each core after 12 hours. Temps 38 under load with 1.475 volts. May drop it down to 4.5 as i jumped from 4.25 to 4.75 when primed failed. only thing that worries me is the pwmic temps, hitting 52 on load. Thats fine in this weather but when things start to heat up it's going to get a little toasty in there.

Going to put it on 2700mhz and prime it overnight

Working on the air-flow through the case or adding a fan over the PWMIC would be a good idea. CPU temp looks great though and gives you plenty of headroom for more vcore if needed. I'd suggest a maximum of 1.6v or 55c max load temp whichever comes first.

What RAM are you running and what cooling? Getting blazing speeds mate. :)

whats your stepping m8?

edit: I need to read the whole thread properly :p yours is CCBWE 0551UPMW same as lego rite?

Yep, stuck 1.6v through it and it only does 3 hours prime at 2.7 ffs. Oh well 2.6 is still decent... :o
