If you had the chance of an Opteron 165 or a cheap 4200+ X2 , which would you get? I am thinking of getting the opty 165 as it has bigger core and clock speeds can always be added with overclocking ( i have water cooling).

However, which would be best for gaming and value? :)

Cheers

Come on someone must have some input on this!? I am finding it hard to make the desicion!

The opteron stepping will be : CCBWE 0602 BPM4 for £185 too. However, im debating waiting for the cheaper X2's , but at this price, didnt know if it was worth it or not :)

The 165 is only any good overclocked as, at its standard 1.8Ghz, it ain't up to much. From what little I know, virtually all of them will do at least 2.4Ghz on air, with the good steppings getting to the high 2s or even 3Ghz.

Nobody buys a 165 to run at 1.8. These things are made for clocking.
