How easy is it to get an Opty 165 OC'd on just air?

Do they require water after a certain point due to the heat they push out and I assume they'd need a special cooler? I.e. not the stock one that comes with them.

Lets take my case as an example.
2 80mm fans on front blowing into the case at 2700 RPM
2 80mm fans rear sucking out of case at 2700 RPM
GFX card fan (Big artic cooler thing)

Oh and how easy are they to OC?

Ok upon reading the various other topics I see what you mean :p

I assume that an opty @ ~3GHz is much better then an intel at 3GHz?

And the OC'ing ability depends on the motherboard, correct?

Ouch.

So what would the best mobo be for a opty if I was going to OC it?

I've read somewhere else that the DFi nF4 series are a good buy.

I checked the DFi site and none of their mobo's say that they support opties. I assume they do though?

Oh good :D

I've done a bit of looking around on the web and only found 1 site that sells the 939 optys!!

Guess which one it is? *Points to address bar*

Anyway, I found the DFi NF4 Infinity to be a fairly cheap solution for the 939 opteron problem (Around £60 from another company  )

Would that be fine as far as OC'ing would go for the opty?

Changed :p

Only thing I find with OcUK is that, yes they generally tend to get the best of everything but in doing so its all really expensive :( I have to go to other places to find components.

Yea I can agree with that and they should have the option for a free delivery over x amount of £££'s

I've been discussing an upgrade in another topic here.

@Squidge: Yea but being only 16 I don't have one yet ;)
