tried TVersity to transcode mkv file to playable file on my snazio and 360 with a res of 720P
brought the cpu to its knees, 100% both cores with major stutter
has anyone any experience of real time HD transcoding with a quad? or even the core2duo

sorry i' I've missunderstood your question, but I've had 1080p.mkv files running fine on my opty 165 @ 2.61Ghz. Took 40-70% usage.

Give the CoreAVC codec a try, it works brilliantly.

Agree with above 100%. Had a 1080p output to my plasma with an AMD X2 4600+ @ stock. Worked fine.
