Sorry if this is common knowledge but I don't play a lot of PC games, I normally use my 360 or PS3 for games and let the PC do PC stuff.

Anyway I saw the Orange box for £17 and thought well at that price give it a go, I knew it would be on a PC and expected a bit of hassle installing but ffs what is this ball ache.

1. Insert Disc 1 and and install something called Steam. Sign up. Website asks me for $$$ to play game, Foxtrot Oscar.
2. Insert Disc 2 and no install file so, put back in Disc 1. Umm, can't find an install file for the game just this Steam stuff.
3. Do a google search and find that you need to click on Install again and insert code on sleeve in the box.
4. Whey hey it tells me I can play the games I have purchased (only spent 30 minutes so far). So I click on Half Life 2 as I've never played it before so I thought I give it a go.
5. You need to download more recent video drivers for you 8800 GTS it tells me. OKies I'm on a 16 Meg link shouldn't take long. Well it's been downloading for 20 minutes now, just getting 85Kbs from nVidia :((

What a total and utter ball ache. I just wished I'd pay £10 extra and got it on a 360 stuck the disc in and played the game 2 mins later.

My PC will blast my 360 away and when I eventually get to play the game I'll just wonder why on Earth is there this palava installing the darn thing.

Soz for the rant.

wooh. it shouldnt be complicated tbh,

1. download steam
2. sign into steam.
3. insert game CD code into steam.
4. download game.
5. download new drivers if needed.
6. play.. not sure what that foxtrot oscrar was but tell it to bugger off. :)

Am I missing something here? I don't understand what the hassle is?

Soz guys I got the game running now, and looks superb at 1920x1280 on my Dell 2407.

The hassle was installing it off the box, far to complicated. I normally just play games on my 360 and the process to of inserting the CD to first play took about an hour. Nothing really to moan about but the missus is on a night out with her gfs and will be home soon so I was rather hoping to stick the game in, install it and get playing within 10 mins max.

What annoys me with steam is that even though i have the game disc in the drive, it still seemingly insists on spending 2 hours downloading the game, then about another quarter of an hour patching it. I quite like it though, apart from the ridiculous prices.
