Orange box ps3

He has been very critical of it yes, but from reports I've heard the problems with the PS3 version have been dealt with. It's still the worst version available, but good enough for those who only have the option of the PS3 version.

Agreed, I have it on the PC and its a fantastic collection of games, if your PC isn't up to the spec, or you don't have a 360, it is still probably worth owning on the PS3. But out of all 3 variants the PS3 will be the worst.

What you have to remember is, a lot of the time when certain versions of multi platform games get criticised for technical problems, these are the kind of problems that only those who have all versions available to them will even care about.

Not necessarily. Some people will only have the one console and still have the right to complain about it. I know I sure as hell would if I only had a PS3 with GRAW2 and The Darkness which are brilliant games, but looked terrible on the PS3.
If TOB goes like a slideshow on the water levels as I've read, then PS3 only owners have every right to complain, and if that's the case, they will care about it.

so why is it the worst version?

I dont have a 360 and just bought my ps3ang tbh my pc is always breaking and the gfx card is a 7600GT.

Hmm. Well reports are that it's another terrible PS3 port (it's far from the first time), and early reports are, even though it's the last version to be released (again, not exactly a first for the PS3) it's nothing to do with tweaking the game. The creator of HL, Gabe Newell, has openly dismissed the PS3 and would apparently be happy to ignore the PS3 version of TOB, which doesn't exactly sound great.

Aside from the fact HL2 HAS aged visually by a great deal, the frame-rate on the PS3 version has been described as "a slideshow" at times throughout the game. The PS3 has had a lot of poor ports of big games, but there are rumours this could be the worst of them, hence why people recommended the Xbox360 or PC versions which are brilliant.

Which is why I said a lot of the time. ;)

Sometimes the difference is as you say, a little too big.

I agree. it's annoying when it's not that little of a difference, the one that comes to mind the most is always the Darkness, I was gobsmacked at how poor it was graphically on the PS3, especially as only a month earlier I declared it as one of the most beautiful games I'd seen. What's more disappointing is, it's one of the best games of the year and it would likely put some people off.

I remember JUMPURS complaining for one.

Anyway, this is going off topic. It's impossible to say, it's all hearsay, but it wouldn't surprise a lot of people if TOB was as bad as some reports say. You're gonna have to wait it out, or get it on the PC I'm afraid as you didn't get an Xbox360.

The Darkness was terrible when played next to the 360 version I totally agree, however, I played it all the way through on the PS3 before I saw it on the 360, and it's one of the best games I have ever played.

The Darkness is still THE worst 360 port to appear on the PS3.

Yeah, that's what I mean, it's a great game, but it MIGHT put some people off, and it would be a tragedy for it to do so.

Absolutely, its a real shame because if you can overlook the jaggies and slight fps problems, it really is an amazing game! (Or if you have both consoles get the 360 version)

This threads gone way OT, apologies OP!

I would say no to buying that to be honest, the more people put up with shoddy ports, the more lazy devs are going to produce them.

Mind you, if you're desperate to play it you've got no choice really.
