Hi there,

We are considering moving from Pipex to Orange broadband because of the awful speeds we have been getting from Pipex over the past months and their failure to even want to sort it out.

Those who know or have Orange broadband.

What are the speeds like?
  • What are the speeds like?
  • What are customer services like?
  • Are you happy? :)

The package we are considering is "Broadband unlimited Up to 8Meg - £19.99".
Thanks

Pipex was alright when it was a small, quiet sort of company few years back. Now they have gotten a bit big for their boots. They now have that hasslehoff idiot advertising for them. The contention rates are definately overloaded but they seem to wash their hands of it when I bring it up on the phone telling me its my own fault etc. Not sure about that UKonline, they new? Orange looks good, they are a decent company.

Im going to go for UK then, unless of course Tiscali sort their problem out in the next few days.
Ring them up ask them to sort it and if they refuse to take responsbility as they did with me, then just end the conversation at "Well I have been looking at UK online and they currently have a good package which some of my friends and family are using and I think I will go elsewhere as I'm just fed up of the poor service I'm paying for." They will either end up sorting it out or hang up and probably end up ringing you back, as the phone calls are recorded and if they are a decent company they should ring back to sort things out after reporting back to their managers/boss.

Good idea, but with this speed restriction FUP im on if you dont already know.

Which number one i only received ONE warning

Number two i dont do any file sharing stuff i only play online games.

Anyway all they say is they cant do anything since you have to email the people that deal with FUP, ive sent them 5 emails now 5 still have not received a reply.

Don't go to Orange under any circumstances - the service is the worst I've experienced of any ISP - ever!!!

I'm lucky enough to get free ADSL through work, the supplied service is Orange ADSL Max and it's so poor even compared to my previous BT 2mb service I've signed up for Virgin Media 10mb to replace it. It might cost me £27 per month but free internet that has constant line drops, lag spikes and poor service is no use to anyone, I'd rather pay and get something of use.

A god awful service - stay away!

Well I no longer work as a tech support agent for Orange Broadband (Thank god)

But I have to say that I don't recommend it to anyone. I've actually got it myself as I'm on still on a staff discount offer, but when it runs out I'll be moving asap.

I know a few people who already have Orange Broadband and when it works its perfect, but if the slightest thing goes wrong you can be in for a bit of a tough time, especially just trying to get through as I can't even recommend a best time to call if you ever needed to as it was just constantly busy from when we opened til when we closed.

Best advice is try one of the higher ranking ISPs listed on dslzoneuk.net or thinkbroadband.com

my girlfriend is with orange i believe.

If they are then : its always down, and never oranges fault, untill you phone up moan and its magically sorted in half an hour or so...

We have Orange broadband.
I think its good.
Only downer is we can only download 2gb a month max.
But yet, we have never had a problem with them or the Internet service in 3 years.

But will be probably changing to BT or someone when we move house.

I have orange with a livebox for £5 a month with my mobile contract. Its an upto service for 8mb which i tend to get 7mb from. The livebox gives me free Voip calls and also acts as the adsl/wi-fi router. Never had a problem with any of this, been with them around 6 months.
I'm not a heavy user on this account, just wanted to let you know thy are not as bad as above for all users... but i guess if i did not get it so cheap i might not subscribe.
