I currently have a K750i and over the past few days the directional thingy has moments where it will only work in the "up" direction. Now, is something I can claim on Orange Care, and also - does a replacement have to be another K750i ('cos given the choice, I'd be grabbing a C600 instead if it was possible). :)

Should be able to claim for it as faulty under care. Would have to be the same phone, and may be subject to the admin fee as per the T&C's of Orange care depending how long you've had the phone.

If it's been less than a year, you won't have to pay anything because the repair will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

If the phone is replaced under care he would, if it was over 6 months old, because Orange care is a 24hr turnaround replacement service that has nothing to do with manufacturers warranty. It is therefore subject to it's own terms and conditions as specified.

If he sends the phone off to be repaired then yes, he wouldn't have to pay anything. However that's not likely to give him a fully working phone arriving by courier the following day :)

Yes, I guess I missed the "under Orange Care" bit. Is there an excess for the replacement then?

In any case, if he happened to have an authorised service centre nearby that was small enough to do jobs the same day (especially something relatively simple like joystick replacement) then he could have it fixed the same day.

Just as an example, the vodafone store on Oxford Street managed to do simple repairs and software upgrades within a few hours (under warranty)... (I can't comment about bringing an Orange phone there for a repair, though - doubt they can/willing to do anything)

Yep, get some use out of that very expensive policy.

Considering what you get from Orange Care and basically how little it actually costs I'd describe it as a lot of things - however not as "very expensive".
