hi all.

ive just done a reinstall of windows onto my laptop. everything went fine

anyway i get to the point where im going to connect to the net thorugh wireless and although i can connect to the network i get no internet.

i cannot even log into the routers ip.

any idea of the problem?
 
I bet it's 169.254.xxx.xxx Basically it's windows default way of saying you have a limited connection to the router, in some cases it's the router not assigning an ip address to the client (dhcp issue or is switched off) or the client hardware is not handshaking with the router. Even though it says limited connection it's basically as about as much use as no connection at all.

When I had this with my daughters laptop a re-install of the network device driver fixed it.
 
Reboot your wireless device then your pc. If it still fails, check to see if you are getting an IP.
Start -> Run -> cmd and press ok.
At cmd prompt, type "ipconfig /all" (no quotes). Post back the ip, subnet mask and gateway addresses.
