As the majority of us know if over £30 is spent on an 18 month Orange contract they offer Internet for free or £5 depending on option.

I've got my MAC code off BT and was told a shocking bit, that if I do go, then it's up to my next ISP to cancel my broadband account with BT

Is this true? I thought it was the customer that had to stop the direct debits.

I been reading about them. Are they really that bad?

Oh yes. Friend of mine has it, speeds are slower than 56k modem, and technical suppport/service is a joke. Stay well clear.
You get what you pay for.. £5 broadband internet. - Say nomore!.

That isn't true at all - the account should automatically be closed when you migrate and the winning ISP won't contact the losing ISP at all.

I am just leaving orange I thought also zomg £5 for that wicked!!! :o

The connection is so rubbish, disconnects all the time, speed is ok but when you get it...my modem just resets all the time...tried tech support...nothing

had enough and now going to a proper ISP

I realized one thing...

If you pay peanuts you get monkeys! :p

If I make no use of my MAC Code will my current broadband service remain active permanantly? For e.g as if I never made the request?

Possibly - some ISPs will cancel your account at the end of the 60 days (the key's valid for 30 days and you can specify a migration date another 30 days into the future from then), some will just forget about it if the MAC isn't used.

You have 30days to use it. After this time it expires but your connection will stay active as though you never asked for a mac code. You can ask for another MAC code the day after the previous one expired.
