Now this says mobile in the title but its not for a mobile "phone" its just the dongle for a computer.

Anyhow. I signed my mother up to the orange, 500mb mobile internet deal so she can have cheap net access on her pc at home for 5er a month over 18 months. She gets a dongle as well.

Now the email i got saying it was confirmed etc then i saw a lot of "mobile phone" stuff like "Remember we'll need a signature on delivery.
when your phone arrives
Your phone will arrive connected to our network," ... etc.

Weird considering she just ordered the net for her pc via a mobile internet dongle "mobile as in not fixed line".

Should come Friday but just got me wondering why all this crap about itunes and a phone coming in the confirmation email. Anyone else on this package and got a similar message. She already has a mobile phone etc dont need another one lol.

Only got it cos i persuaded her to get it for her ebay selling as atm shes roped me into doing it for her and i just cba lol so me and cuson etc are gona help her get to grips with ebay when the dongle comes. Its a old pc but i got xp on albeit slow.

And why a dongle net instead of home net through a line? Well she doesnt have a line in the home just a mobile phone. And when i saw the orange offer for net for a fiver through a dongle i thought thats canny for light usage for ebay and emails and maybe messenger.

Don't these dongles just hookup to the 3G network? thus why you're getting all the info about mobiles.

I think it says it uses 2g or 3g network yeah but that doesnt mean its for mobile phones only surely does it. I mean it will work on a pc, at least it better do lol.

No of course. It'll work fine, its just that it used the mobile phone network for internet connectivity, and is also likey that to them they just treat it as a mobile phone account with no minutes, and some automated process is just sending you stuff as you're a new "mobile account customer".

Dont worry about it. :)

they use the same networks as mobiles, i.e. when i run out of time on my telstra dongle i can wack my mobile phone sim into it and still use it. basically what u receive is a pay monthly sim card with no talk time and just 500mb of data you put into the usb dongle

Ah ok. Phew i mean yeah i figured that would be the case but i wasnt sure i mean i know when ordering it said 5er a month and 3.99 delivery for the dongle but when the email was saying about a mobile phone i was getting worried they were sending a phone too and probs charge for it as well. Glad there not tho.

It's nothing to do with what network they use, they just don't have seperate emails for dongles and phones, so it's as if you've ordered a phone, order a joggler from o2 and it will be the same, and that can't even connect to the mobile network
