OrbusVR MMO Open Alpha Test: 28th-30th July

Just nudging this up to remind people the open alpha is live on Friday for the weekend. I'll be in there on Friday and (assuming I like it) Sunday - a prior commitment will keep me away on Saturday :(

Could be an excellent opportunity for everyone on here with a headset to jump in for some social hacking and slashing of defenceless wildlife, all in the noble pursuit of levelling up :)

so we opened the room up to the public and a drunk Scottish guy joined us. :D:D He was an ass, but, so drunk it was funny.
I wish I'd managed to grab video of that. Having a drunk Scottish engineer who just sat there complaining that engineering was s**te, though annoying in the end, would have been YouTube comedy gold.

Just remember guys, it's "shoot fluke in the back" day :p

See you later on Orbus for the Alpha test. Am looking forward to seeing how MMOs will work in VR. :D
Apparently PvP only works in certain wild areas of the game, though I may have to offer a prize to the first person to provide proof of killing Melmac :D

Let's hope their servers can handle the influx of freebie testers..

Will be interested to see your thoughts chaps. If you manage to record any of your play I'd be interested to watch.
Good reminder - been meaning to set something back up after my Windows reinstall. Got it always recording the last 10 minutes now, so if anything amusing happens, there's no escaping it ;)

Naming restrictions/requirements aside, I'll either be Fluke or FlukeRogi.

If people post their names as Melmac suggested, I'll update the first post with a list. Just waiting on the server now..

Just tried it, and I appear to be stuck with a bug which won't let me equip the bow, so I can't carry on with the tutorial. I've left a message on their forums, but let me know if it works for you.

so, got in again after an update and there must have been a bug because teleporting was much better on return.

But, crashed again.

Not sure this is near ready yet. I guess that's why it's an Alpha. Whenever there is more than 4/5 people on screen the whole thing gets laggy and stuttery. Not sure I will put any more time into for the moment.
Like you say it's an alpha but yeah, it certainly feels like one. Not had any lag problems, and I was killing critters in the sunflower patch with probably 5 or so other people doing the same. The world just feels a tad empty though. That art style coupled with things being spaced out like they are makes it feel a bit sparse.

I'll give it another go, as I'd like to see some other areas first, but on first impression, if this was a monitor game, people wouldn't be playing it.

Will any of you guys be on later to give it a go?

Let me know what time and I will be here. :)
Was out Saturday, but will be on Sunday afternoon if you want a game (assuming you mean Landfall from your previous post?). I own it, great little game, but never played it online. If you meant Orbus, could give it another go.

Sounds like I'm not missing much
Yeah - it's definitely in an "alpha" state. I think they've made some unwise design desisions though. Everything seems too spaced out, so when coupled with the polygon art style, it kind of makes the world feel empty. A forest for example feels more like a massive field with trees in it due to the distance between everything.

Not managed to get online with anyone I know, and of course that could make a big difference, but I'll give it another try before it ends.

I will be online this evening giving this game another go, if anyone wants to come online and do some group stuff? Will be on from 7pm until late :)
Yep, can be online at 7. I'll leave Steam open, so give me a shout on there when you're ready.

Is this any good then?
It's certainly in a alpha state, and I got hit with bugs trying to complete the tutorial (hint, if you can't move items around in your inventory, find the "stuck in combat" option and press it).

I want to try it again in a group if possible, but I think they have a lot of work to do before they can release it.

Is this any good then?
Managed to get some more time on it earlier, and my impressions of it have certainly improved. Managed to do a dungeon with a group, and it really started to shine as a co-op game. I still think they have some way to go, and it really needs some spit and polish, but I'm looking forward to seeing where they can take it now.
