Anyone playing this?

I've only dabbled for an hour or two, but so far I'm quite enamoured. They've done a marvelous job of tackling the issues the genre presents in terms of communication, interface, and gameplay mechanics, and the community atmosphere in the game is great.

Bodes well for VR MMORPGs in general.
 
I only ever played the open beta weekend they had a while back, and while I enjoyed the time I spent in a group, the time I had playing solo was a total bore.

They could do with running a free weekend now that it's been released. I'd be willing to try it and see if things have changed much, but I'm not buying it in order to find out.
 
As tempting as it is, I found the open beta a bit basic. It does look a bit more busy from the latest videos, but like Rogi, I hope for a weekend. The idea of a VR mmo does appeal though, as I enjoy gathering, and being a supplier of wares.

If they keep it to actual physical actions, chopping, rock picking, fishing ect... there's naff all chance of it becoming flooded with bots and multiple accounts:)
 
I wouldn't disagree with those thoughts. I'm really impressed by things like the party/guild chat channels and the way they've adapted typical MMO hotkey abilities to fit VR motion controls, but time will tell if there is enough substance to the lore and metagame to actually keep me playing long term. I'm at 4 hours so far, which is more than I last in most VR games :)
 
I loved this game when I played the Free beta weekend. While it wasn't great graphically it felt like a proper RPG. It brought me back to playing games like Moria all those years ago. There was a few bugs and some of the game mechanics didn't work right, I still enjoyed playing.

I believe I went on a few group runs with FlukeRogi, and as he said, the group dynamics was really good. I want to get it, but, only if some of the guys here get it and we can have an OCUK Orbus VR group that meet up and play. I think that would be pretty awesome and if a few people were interested in doing that, then count me in!
 
Oculus Free Weekend

The folks at Oculus will be partnering with us to feature a Free Weekend event from Thursday the 19th to Sunday 22nd, where thousands of players will be able to give Orbus a try!

Sounds great, but will the server stand up:o
 
I'll give this a try, it doesn't look like much but a lot of people are saying positive things about it. will be interesting how the teamwork dynamics work out
 
I'm stuck trying to get kill a King's Stag, yes the first mission. Have killed several in a group but didn't get any drops.
Have had to give up for now as I'm getting motion sickness, not yet used to free locomotion.
