Hi,

So it's been 5 years since my last build so its definitely time for a rebuild :D
I was about to order all components but have now held off due to Sandybridge but can't decide a) whether the components are ok or b) should I hold off all items and take the VAT hit but may get a general price fluctuation?

Was going to order:
GTX570 (possibly Zotac)
Antec TruePower New Modular 750W Power Supply
OCZ Vertex 2 "25nm Edition" 50GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

These are going to be put with my existing raptor drives (x2) and I will be looking at I7 950 (or Sandybridge equivalent), MB and Memory... I'm currently watercooling so may look at doing that again too...

Would appreciate your views as I have been out of the loop!
Cheers
Mike

hi mike...

your choices are good mate...and waiting the 10 days till sandybridge comes out is the way to go...youd be well ****ed to build a new rig only to find out you could have had more power, less heat and more money in your pocket a few days later.....if its not up to par ....then the 950 is tried and tested and begging to oc to 4ghz+

Hi, thanks for that.
So the choices are ok - should I click order now or hold on and order all together later? (I don't mean order now for the CPU/Mem/MB - just the items above)
Cheers

Choices are good.

i7 might be overkill though, seeing as this looks like its a gaming build.

Could save yourself £££ by going down the i5 route, and there really is a negligible performance difference considering the price :)

I did wonder whether the i7 was overkill considering this is built purely for a flightsim pc and flightsim doesn't take advantage of multi-processors but i do have a raft of other programs that I need to run at the same time so normal would shift them off on to other cores to spread the load.
Saying that FS is very cpu dependant (even if I do run 2 other pc's for the cockpit) but I am looking to get the best I can at the moment as I probably won't upgrade again for another few years (maybe not as many as 5 tho!)
Cheers
