Order of components in loop

kit as below;

Swiftech H20-220 Apex "Ultra" Watercooling Kit
A8N-SLI Delux
7800gtx at 510/1.37
3700sd at 2.65

Two orders are recommended by swiftech
A
Pump-Chipset-VGA-Rad-CPU-Res-Pump

B
Pump-CPU-Chipset-VGA-Rad-Res-Pump

The Res has a 120mm blowing over it by the way.

Any advice?

the reason being from what i think is that just after the pump the pressure is at its theoretical highest, so will help on that block, and the rad is just before the res so the water going into the pump will be its lowest possible

agreed, B imo is best
 
for a storm block have the pump going direct into the block, then after that just do what ever you can to get the shortest amount of tubing possible.

appart from that, loop order doesnt matter over tubing length

B would be the neatest in my case but thinking about it is the chipset cooling realy required, the chipset fan on this mobo doesnt make any noise but i spose for an extra £18 i might as well do all the components.

no, its not really needed, just adds restriction to the loop, and more heat also.

Its on a dual rad loop and that pump is very powerfull (only currently run it at 40%) added to the 7/16 tubbing and i dont hink flow restrition or heat transfer is a problem. Then again ive had WCing for about a week so im an absolute expert :D
 
Personaly i would go pump>rad>cpu>>vga>chipset>res>pump.

That way the CPU is getting the coldest water. but any way won't effect flow rate, your water in your loop can only flow as quickly as the most restrictive item will allow it to.

In my case, that would be the most messy cos the Rad is mount externally and high with the Res also up high and pump down low.

Feel free to swap the VGA and the chipset around, but moving any of the others around will drop your performance (but only very slightly anyway)

Well i'l order the bits tomorrow (i'd do it tonight but ive been on the wine so god knows what will turn up if i did) and then once they turn up i'l look at the best way to do it taking all the advice in.
Im not doubting any advice but the two examples given were those in the manual but were different from the advice given here.
Well i'l post again on the subject next week once the hardware is in.

whack a zalman passive heatsink on the chipset - no noise AND no restrictions, extra work, extra heat etc. in the loop.

mine goes pump - rad - cpu - gpu - res

The difference in temperature between the hottest and coldest part of a loop is fairly insignificant, something of the order of 0.1C.

Water pressure drops all the way round a loop back to the pump, any impingement block might benefit to being on the pump outlet as that's where the pressure is highest, whether the difference is sufficient to make a measurable performance difference I'm not sure.

While were on the subject is it worth getting both a push fan and a pull fan on a Rad ?

Im going to be getting a Big Water SE for a HTPC but have a spare 120mm fan so I could quite easily mount it on the opposite of the radiator if I get some screws long enough to go through both fans and the radiator.

Or is just a single push or pull fan enough for a 120.1 Rad ?
