Hi all , my wife ordered me a 360 today we got a premium and 4 games for 299 which wasnt bad

coz it was/is a suprise for my birthday she never enquired about extended warranties can i buy this separately ? do i have to contact the e-tailer directly ?

with the console weve got GOW,fight night 3 some arcade classics games and gotham racing

what FPS games would you recommend for me to play online ? and which ones should i be looking out for in the future ?

and what games would you recommend for the wife ? , shes into stuff like tomb raider, zelda and resident evil so basicly puzzle games with a hint of action

Thanks for reading :)

The extended warranty information sheet comes with the console, I think there's a form you can fill in and send off. It's to MS not to the e-tailer.

You'll get a lot of recommendations for GRAW here, apparently it's really good online but I have yet to experience it.

On the topic of the wife, have you had a look at Viva Pinata? Sounds like she might like Dead Rising aswell.

Hope you enjoy it :)

No, all extended warrenties are through Microsoft, you could get the extended warrenty in the 11th month if you wanted to, it's totally open ended as long as you extend before the annual year of warrent expires

Great selection of games, Gears of War and PGR3 are two fantastic games, and FNR3 is probably the best boxing game ever.

I would definitely recommend Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, it's brilliant online. Rainbow Six Vegas is great in Single Player too. A very under-rated single player game is Prey, I loved it.
In the very near future there is Call of Juarez and The Darkness, both of which may be worth a look at.

I'd recommend Tomb Raider: Legend then, I thought it was brilliant, plus they are releasing Anniversary as Downloadable content in the future. Resident Evil 5 is coming out, however it isn't any time soon. If she can get to grips with FPS titles then Condemned is pretty atmospheric. There is also Splinter Cell and Hitman is a stealth game is up her street.

I would also recommend Crackdown, Dead Rising, Guitar Hero 2, Test Drive Unlimited and Oblivion. There are loads of great games though.

Nice1 bud, I'm sure you and your wife will find it a brilliant and have lots of fun. If your a boxing fan like myself you will absolutely love Fight Night, its one of my favourite games offline and on.
As for an FPS online, while I like Gears of War online, Rainbow 6 Vegas is my favourite. I enjoyed doing the missions co-op over live and I really enjoy the multiplayer much more than I enjoyed GRAW's.
For your wife you can pick up Tomb Raider Legend pretty cheap nowadays and they have just released a remake of the original Prince of Persia which im sure both of you will enjoy.

Happy gaming :D

Thanks for the info guys much appreciated :)

The missus has just told me when it arrives shes gunna hide it till my birthday 3 weeks away, i hope shes aving a larf   :(

Most retailers will do an extended warranty on your 360 too, although maybe not now you've already bought it. Got to be worth phoning them to check though. From a certain catalogue shop I paid £35 for an extra 2 yrs which is half the price of the Microsoft warranty.

Games for the wife - Kameo. Puzzle/adventure.

nice one i'll look into that, just out of interest whats the best 'fighting game' about for the 360 , im thinking along the lines of tekken style games

There aren't many at all. Dead Or Alive 4 is your best bet.

Aye, you can pickup DOA4 pretty cheap these days. Virtua Fighter 5 is due out this fall (it was a PS3 timed exclusive) and Soul Calibre IV has just been announced for next year (The second was a firm favourite of mine and my wifes).

As has already been mentioned it sounds like she'd love Kameo and Tomb Raider, and depending how she is with zombies Dead Rising is one of the top 360 adventure experiences.

For FPS you're spoilt for choice.

You have the traditional COD2 and COD3 which are both amazing experiences both off and online.
For more modern 'squad based' fps games you have Rainbow Six Vegas, GRAW and GRAW 2. I've only played the latter two but as single player games I can vouch for just how good they are. There's also plenty of online goodness to compliment them nicely.

I too loved Prey. It's pretty 'old skool' especially online but is a great often overlooked game. I'm not sure how many people still play it but you'll get it cheap and it's well worth a play through.

Also, and for late at night with the lights low and sound high get Condemned. Play it slow and get in the mood and you'll love it.

The console arrived this morning , i went out and bought tomb raider legend for the missus and DOA 4 for myself, loving it so far :D

Now for my stoopid question , do u HAVE to use a modem/router or pc ICS to connect to xbox live ? i thought i would be able to plug the ethernet cable straight into my adsl line box similar to the old dreamcast console ?, the cable MS supplied aint long enough to reach my pc in the other room :(

aye i didnt know if the 360 had a internal modem , spose i better rtfm eh :D

the dreamcast modem was 33k iirc , man i loved my dreamcast

33k??!!? What's that :D :p

I don't understand how it even communicated properly with that sort of speed.

Biggest problem with dial up was the AD/DA conversion which completely ruined ping times, but the actual bandwidth was plenty for online gaming.

You can use ics, just run the ethernet cable from your xbox to your pc and setup internet connection sharing and that's it. Very easy.
