Went into local VW dealership to look at 2nd hand golfs.
They had one for 12k well below spec of something you could get on autotrader but there you go.
Monthly payments were more than I thought so asked about leasing.

Then we got talking about the sciroccos which I love but put out of my head a while ago due to perceived financial impossibility.

BUT with the 1.4 TSI 122ps model I pay a bit more than the golf but have a BRAND new rocco:D

meh so it's not a two litre OR the 160ps 1.4 version but compared to my three cylinder, 1.2 06 polo I drive now? it's gonna haul.

more good news, 45 (ish) mpg on the combined cycle, basically 500 miles on a tank should be possible thereabouts.

Opted for 18'' interlago alloys, dynaudio speaker upgrade, sensor parking (hard car to reverse imo) and of course, VIPER GREEN metallic paint:D

what you all think?
Please don't be snobbish about my engine, its all I could afford and I can't wait to drive a damn nice car around that is fun and frugal:)

got it on three yr PCP with GAP insurance, it's still gonna hurt me, but will be worth it:cool:

That topgear feature was awful, i got really excited when I heard they were going to have one on the show and they just drove the diesel and made rubbish adverts for it!

I know I can get car 'x' with an insane engine (and insurance) that car buffs would appreciate.
But what I appreciate is the timing of things, i've finished a bloody hard course for 6 yrs and have ordered my first brand new car that I will be paying for. It's exactly what I want and nothing else really tempted me. It's what kept me going during the darker hours!
I've only ever driven VW's and love them, solid cars.
So yes, I am happy

WOW I made this thread yesterday?!

Interesting to hear everyone's views on this, I signed for the car on tuesday not sure how long cooling off would therefore be.

Seeing as someone nearly guessed right, my monthly will be £275 with gap insurance (£270 without)

I didn't realise PCP was hated so much here! My mum is financially cautious yet rotates her new cars this way, didn't think about it too much (enough) perhaps.

Yes the ' I can haz shiny new car' factor was massive and can't really defend myself there. A golf would have REALLY bored me, if the rocco bores me by three yrs time then so be it, i'm sure I will have been enjoying the car far more than another golf.

So to summarise, people think:

a) get a loan out, buy your own car
b) can't afford it, don't get it, be sensible?

If it was my own car I would love to have lowered and remapped it in theory but in practice i'd have chickened out so the modding side of things is no different from me renting.

Can't trade in the polo as sister needs to get it now that she's not going to aus for a yr!

hey no one get angry at me, maybe for me but chill i'm respecting you, you respect me danke

£4000 deposit to get the payments sub £300

comes with aircon, its a highly specced car as standard imo. IF it didn't have aircon, THEN you may see some aerial footage of a bright green object driving around causing a tornado-like path of destruction

found a 2nd hand 1.4 TSI 160hp, 18'' alloys on AT,done 3000 miles from a VW dealership within driving distance.
sorely tempted IF I can cancel, thoughts?

Oh and realistically I intend to buy the car off them anyway at the end of three yrs. So instead of a load at 10% APR I do it at 7.8% and have gone through the same process anyway.

and yeh, seems I should have just posted pics when it arrived, I hope i'm not in the same league as the clio guy, I read that entire thread

yeh cutoff point is <15k at 7.9% apr loan, tesco do 8.4% for over 15k

so ANYONE who wants a new car and 'shock-horror' doesn't have 20k floating around in their account is stupid for financing it like er lets see... normal people?

yeh of course it wastes money, short of gambling or having a heroin addict buying new cars is a waste in that you don't NEED to do it.

cheers, some people on here suffering from the green monster themselves no doubt, thanks to all those that were level headed enough to say they disagreed in a polite manner.
I'm done here
