Right, ordered an X-Fi yesterday and am waiting for delivery atm, my question is first of all - will i notice a noticeable increase in audio quality over my motherboards onboard sound in things like Battlefield 2?

I got the card itself, not from OCUK sadly, but for £65 (OEM i believe) and 'XtremeMusic'?

The answer to your questions lies in just about every thread in Sound City. Or every "X-Fi" thread that is, of which there are about 30-40 a week :D

I got one yesterday and I've noticed a fairly big improvement, although that's on a Hi-Fi setup. The card certainly obtains a nice balance of bass. I used to hate it in some songs where the bass caused a cacophonic earthquake of distortion throughout the house. It does the really smooth bass well (if you get what I mean) but cuts out the horrible resonant bass.

Since you've already ordered, you might as well hear for yourself ;)

Those of us with one already can't be -that- objective at the end of the day.

[But I'd go along with yes]

My standard reply: My X-Fi was an improvement over my SB Live!, which was an improvement over my old onboard sound chip. So yes.

One thing tho - I remember people having serious problems with BF2 and X-Fi when they first came out. I don't know if this has been sorted out yet, but you might want to look into that. Just a heads up :)
