Ordered Asus RT-N56U. which firmware ?

as title, ordered this from overclockers

when it comes what firmware should I put on it OR do I even need to change it assuming it's on the latest (whichever that is)

Always worth upgrading to the latest ASUS firmware to eliminate bugs/vulnerabilities, or if you fancy a tinker some third party firmware such as DD-WRT

thanks Will, I appreciate the sentiment about keeping up to date because of vulnerabilities - the reason I asked is apparently the later/latest breaks a few things ??

unless thats not the case anymore and they have fixed it.

oh well I guess it's time to hit the google.

Currently running 3.0.0.4.376_1665 on mine. It's better tan the older versions as it graphs CPU and RAM usage.

I think it is only for n66u not the n56u. I would love to be proven wrong though!

Is there a list of upgrades/features in this FW over the Asus? I'm just curious what it offers over OEM?

What exactly do you need? There's little point moving away from stock unless you need some other feature. Merlin is the exception for obvious reasons, but it's not available for the N56U.

I have this router, just stick with the latest stock F/W. The one from code.google offers no real benefits for the average home user IMO.

At one point it gave me better performance, but that's no longer the case.
