I just spent £1100 of my student loan on a new machine and regretted the moeny until it was running and then i was over the moon i decided to spend the money.

Not on spec, but the DS4's can clock past 500MHz..

Cost-wise about £2300 inc VAT and shipping. But then it's been a good few years since I've done anything that costed more than £200/year.

You should see some of the rigs I work with...

One company in particular has just custom built 3 similar systems but with 1Kw PSU's, 2x2407 screens each, 2x8800GTX's each, 680SLI chipset mobos.

Two were watercooled, one is going to be vaped!

But yes. Tis a horrendous ammount of money to spend on a rig. But then it's going to be doing the following:

1. Biometric algorithm design (face recognition)
2. Large network planning (visio)
3. HD Video processing and editing
4. Gaming (doh)

And it needs to do this for the next 2-3 years... Justifyable imho =)
