Ordered i5 2500k, will I need thermal paste?

So I have just ordered an MSI P67A-C45 and the retail version of the i5 2500k. Will I need thermal paste for fix the stock cooler?

I do plan on getting an aftermarket cooler in the future and I gather I will need it for that.

Should have thermal paste already applied to the heatsink supplied

Yup they do have 3 strips of thermal paste already on the bottom of the heatsink - mine's sat next to me as I used a different cooler!
