Howdy all,
Just ordered my first laptop as I'll now be travelling a lot with work, I was reluctant at first as I've always had a thing against laptops but I've had to give in... all good though when I found the custom upgrades available my interest perked up.
I wanted something for coding, gaming and media so high spec was necessary. Decent keyboard and screen were a must with good audio and a powerful set-up.
Ended up going for a custom spec MSI GT70 Dominator 17.3", final spec:
i7-4800MQ Processor, 2.7 GHz (Turbo 3.7GHz) 6MB Smart Cache
8GB Nvidia GTX 880M
17.3" 1920 x 1080 Full HD (16:9) LED Backlit Antiglare Type 72% NTSC Color Gamut Display
32GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz (4 x 8GB)
RAID 0 (striping) - MSI Super RAID
768GB RAID (3 x Samsung PM851 256GB mSATA SSD)
1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive
Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Steel Series Gaming Backlit/Color Changing/Programmable 102 keys
Dynaudio Tech Speakers x 2 + Subwoofer x 1
1 9 cell battery - 7800mAh, 87Wh
Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO
Bluetooth 4.0
The MSI seems bulky I know, it's not the worst out there for that but the materials are top notch and it isn't too heavy 3.9kg stock. The RAID 0 promises 1500MB/s, the intel turbo boosts the CPU from 2.7 to 3.7 when needed (gaming etc.) but keeps temps and fans low during normal use. 8GB vram is a bit ridiculous, but I guess it may allow the laptop to last a bit longer.
Actually can't wait for it to arrive, should be fun
I'll get pics up soon as it's here (by the weekend hopefully).
