Hi chaps, I've just ordered Virgin 50 Meg and was wondering about the physical installation.
From reading their website blurb they're going to take a line from their cabinet, through the front garden and through the outer wall to some kind of master socket inside.
Firstly, how do they go about going through the garden? It's a brick driveway with a small amount of earth around the rim for plants.
Secondly currently I've set up our ADSL router in the kitchen, which is in the dead centre of the house and from there cables go all over the house via a patch panel (channelled Ethernet cables all over when an extension was being done). To do this, the BT cable is routed from the master socket by the front door, under the floorboards, through the wall separating the hallway and the kitchen and up to where the router is. Will the Virgin installer just whack the box wherever is closest to the cable outside or do you reckon I could get him to route a cable into the kitchen, which will save me a few hours DIY?
I would phone Virgin, but I'm bored of being on hold.
