Hey guys!

so amongst many others, it's my first time watercooling...

i'm in a studio where windows aren't open...acoustic tiling...etc

so far, what i have sitting waiting for assembly is:

EK Waterblocks for CPU, Motherboard & GFX Card
EK Premixed Coolant
Compression Fittings from EK
Arctic Silver Thermal Paste
MO-RA 9x140 Pro Radiator
XSPX Bay Res
Laing D5 Pump

so what else do i need?

is it just tubing and hose clamps i need?

(also, what hose clamps do i need? or size tubing?)

Just tubing from what I can see, and fans for the rad? :D As for tubing size, make sure it's the same size for the fittings otherwise it will not fit.

Ahh. So how will the tubing stay attached tightly to the compressions fittings without those hose clamps? :S

And I won't need to grab fans or a fan controller - I'm going passive

Unscrew the compression ring on the fitting and place the tubing on it, then screw the compression ring back on.

Other stuff you will need...

  • Space. Unpack all the kit, lay it out around you. Check you have all expected screws etc
  • Rinse out your Radiators. Some people flush with a bit of diluted vinegar then rinse thru with water. Leave to dry
  • Sharp knife for cutting hose. Something hard to cut against. Chopping board from a kitchen is fine
  • Kitchen roll. Also some wirewraps which helps to hold the kitchen roll in place during leaktesting
  • Either a power supply tester or a paperclip. Used to power up your pump without powering up your rig during leaktesting and when doing initial filling and bleeding of bubbles
Take your time. Fit the biggest pieces first if you can. Make sure you have the right screws for the radiator - dont screw a pointy screw into the radiator by mistake as you will puncture it.

Leaktest properly. Preferably somewhere it wont cause a problem if it leaks. Your studio may not be the best place to make a mess.

Plenty of example threads in the Project Logs area.

Those are Barbs, not compressions. You need hoseclips or if you're a tightwad, wide cableties. Please dont be tempted to use barbs without clips. Hoseclips can be reused when necessary.

Some people use 7/16inch tubing over 1/2inch barbs without clips, but I've not tried it.

you shove the tubing over it.

Think of it as a condom

in the same vein (ooh err), they can come off; i find it useful to remove the locking nut from the base, screw the base into the 1/4" hole on the waterblock/pump/rad etc, put the locking nut over the hose, stuff the hose over the barb-part of the compression fitting, then screw the nut on. make sure it's tight, but don't go overboard.

Find ones that match the ID + OD of your tubing. It should say that it will secure those on the clamp specifications.

Every piece of hardware will have an in and an out for water for flow thru it.

So 2 for the rad, 2 for the CPU waterblock, 2 for the GFX card waterblock, 2 for each waterblock going on the motherboard, 2 for the reservoir, 2 for the pump IF its not screwed into the reservoir..

Only exception for this is a fillport or a drain line - but only if you are including either of these.
