Hey folks,

Both my friend and I ordered an XFX 8800GT 'XXX' edition yesterday and it should arrive today.

I am happy to answer questions if anyone is thinking of getting one.

I am moving from an X1950 Pro 512MB to this, so hopefully will see a difference.

I game @ 1600x1200

I talked my friend into it, he has an 8800GTS 640MB (old version), I hope I have given the right advice lol! Im sure they are better than those are they not?

I went for the xxx edition as I knew if I got the extreme edition, i'd only end up thinking I shoulda got the xxx version instead for a few quid more!

I wouldn't have said it was a good buy, same gen card and similar specs. Sure the GT is better but not better in terms of buying a whole new card in the same gen knowing full well the next gen is around the corner after this gen being about for god knows how long.

And for that price for that particular GT you would have been better off with a GTS or even the power hungry boiling hot huge massive GTX (I'm not a fan of the GTX can you tell? ;) )

sounds good to me :) you will defiantly bother see an improvement especialy you coming from an x1950pro :)

enjoy should see you gaming nicely for a while yet :D and dont forget to sell yoru old cards for cash back:D

well i reckon since its been ordered *** u paid dont matter, its a good card man, i got the 7900GT XXX edition and it was one of the fastest 7900GT's out i believe...

Hav fun!

I didn't even spend £200 on the xxx 8800gt , it wasn't from ocuk.

(Even though I love OCuk! They didnt have any in stock either way!)

I would have gone for the GTS if I was paying over £200 definately :)

Ok, Ill take that back then. If you got the pre OCed for less than £200 then your fine. Stupid to pay £234 for one...

Hey folks
Hey SeanyK, nots sure whats up with people being so grumpy! :)

The 8800GT is a sweet card and I'm sure you will really enjoy it. I used to own an X1950Pro (about 11 months ago) and I thought that was a great card for the price (I could only afford the 256Mb version).

Both you and ShiWarrior are upgrading from an X1950Pro to a new 8800GT OC model so I am keen to hear your feedback!

I've tested a regular 8800GT and the 8800GTS 512MB and i think the 8800GT wins on price, having said that the 8800GTS 512MB is also a great card if you have some spare groats! :D

I did a report on the 8800GT cooling as I felt it was too hot so you may find the results useful.

:o Who's got the Hottest 8800GT

Hey SeanyK, nots sure whats up with people being so grumpy! :)

We are not being grumpy at all. The general consensus on this thread is that his mate who is upgrading from a 8800 GTS 640mb card is not getting his monies worth, which thus far all agree on.

For SeanyK it is a great upgrade and for the price now that he has stated it isn't to bad.

In other words we wouldnt have SeanyK as our 'phone a friend' if a GFX card question came up :p - Id rather get a £200ish G92 GTS - the pre-oced G92 GTs seem to have a habit of corrupted memory it seems...

ps3ud0
