Ordered Zotac 8800GT AMP something else came!

Not from overclockers before you ask :)

I was looking into the best GT i could buy one that had high overclocks and good feedback and settled for the zotac 8800GT amp card which runs at standard something like 700/2000. I couldn't get the card anywhere from a retail store in the uk all out of stock , so i ended up seeing a zotac 8800GT amp for £200 on ****.

I purchased the card and it was delivered next day however it wasn't the card i ordered , as soon as i started to open the wrapping to the box i saw the wrong box design. The AMP has a dragon and u can see through the box but not this one. Straight away i started to panic they'd sent me a standard 8800GT not the amp and i'd payed too much so worries of sending it back. But something else quickly caught my eye in the bottom hand corner 8800GTS , it was not the amp card nor the standard GT card but the GTS. They'd sent me the wrong one but this was better and it was going to get better

Played a few games and went onto overclocking it through rivatuner and testing through ati tool..

20mins no artifacts
60C
750 CORE / 2042 MEM

On idle it idles at only 40-42C!

I'm well chuffed , i ended up getting a GTS that clocks higher than the amp card for the same price as a gt amp:D

In rivatuner it reports it as 750 core / 1021 mem... Would like to hit 1050 or more or even higher core :)

Most people won't care for that score but its the first time i've been in the 10k region in 3dmark06.. Upped my core by 5 , but after that it artifacts so my final speed was 755 / 1905 / 1052 !

Did an overnight artifact test and got 20 artifacts within about 2hrs , so this morning i did another artifact test and set it for

740/1905/1052

No artifacts...

So im sticking with that :)
 
Nice to get a freebie, but for £200 you could have practically bought a GTS anyway...

yeah its only like £17ish more for a 512mb gts

dont you feel a bit bad coming onto the ocuk forums to rattle on about the other place you got your card from?
 
well, people buy in different places sometimes. I buy in OcUk a lot of the times but some others I don't because OcUk don't have that product. He is just saying about his luck in this situation, I don't think there is anything bad in what he is saying.

Not really because i haven't said at all where it came from , ocuk was out of stock of the card so i went elsewhere again no names.. The other company made a mistake which if i was unlucky could've ended up with a much slower GT and not a GTS. :)
 
Its carma dude, you've done a couple of good deeds and now it payback :D

My Amp does (720/1020/1787), still tinkering thou :p

Just brings back the memories of my x1950pro that got lost in the post completely and I got my £135 back just to have it turn up two months late! Oh I love when fortunate things like that happen!
Good to see your enjoying your GTS! :D
 
I paid £210 delivered on release day for my Zotac GTS 512mb, so no real big deal, moral of the story is shop around better! :D
